Delhi High Court Orders Case Against Six CBI Officers for Perjury

The Delhi High Court has ordered the filing of criminal charges against six Central Bureau of Investigation officers for allegedly committing perjury and fabricating evidence during an investigation that began in 2002.

A Special Judge has been instructed to submit the complaint against the CBI officials to a magistrate within four weeks. The directive comes following allegations that the agency misrepresented communications with the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) in its August 2, 2016 response.

According to the complainant, the CBI claimed to have initiated discussions with DOPT in its reply, while the actual draft document indicated that DOPT had already reached a decision on the matter. This discrepancy forms the basis of the perjury allegations.

The case is connected to an inquiry into a revenue service officer that originated in 2002. The High Court's order represents a significant development in what appears to be a long-standing investigative matter involving potential procedural lapses and misrepresentation of facts by investigating officials.
