Delhi High Court postpones Youth Congress protest plea hearing to Monday

The Delhi High Court on Thursday postponed hearing on a petition filed by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) after the bench expressed concerns about the pressing nature of the application. The plea, presented before Acting Chief Justice Nitin Sambre by senior advocate Sanjoy Ghose on behalf of IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib, was deferred for further consideration.

During the brief hearing, Justice Sambre questioned the urgency of the matter, prompting the court to schedule the next hearing for Monday. The exact nature of the protest and the specific relief sought by the Youth Congress wing of the Indian National Congress party was not immediately disclosed.

The deferment means that the IYC will need to present stronger arguments regarding the time-sensitive nature of their plea when the matter comes up again on Monday. Senior advocate Ghose will need to address the court's concerns about urgency in the next hearing to persuade the bench to grant the requested relief.

This development comes as various political organizations frequently approach the high court seeking permissions for demonstrations and public gatherings in the national capital. The Delhi High Court has been adjudicating such matters while balancing the right to protest with public order considerations.
