The structural collapse occurred in the Jwalapuri locality of west Delhi, leaving one family member dead and another requiring medical attention. Rescue teams arrived at the site to extract the injured son and recover the deceased from the rubble of the residential building.
The two-storey house, which housed the father and son, failed without warning during the evening hours. The sudden collapse trapped both occupants beneath the debris, prompting immediate calls to emergency services.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the structural failure. Preliminary findings are expected to determine whether construction defects, age-related deterioration, or other structural weaknesses contributed to the collapse. The incident has raised concerns about building safety standards in older residential colonies across the capital.
The injured son was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident. Local officials are conducting a survey of similar structures in the neighbourhood to assess any potential risks.
