Delhi imposes traffic curbs as CJP stages protest at Jantar Mantar

Traffic restrictions across Delhi's central zones began at 6 am on Saturday as authorities braced for a protest by the CJP at Jantar Mantar, where activists are calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers across the capital, manning barricades and monitoring vehicular movement as security measures were intensified ahead of the demonstration.

The heightened security operations encompassed multiple disruptions to normal city functions, including traffic curbs, restrictions on metro services, cancellations of train services, and a suspension of mobile internet connectivity in parts of the national capital. The comprehensive security response underscored the scale of precautions authorities were taking ahead of the planned gathering.

Delhi Traffic Police cautioned commuters of disruptions around key intersections including Connaught Place, Mandi House, Jantar Mantar, and Patel Chowk in central Delhi. Traffic diversions, which commenced at 6 am, were to be regulated based on the prevailing law and order situation. The advisory indicated that affected stretches included the Ashoka Road-Jantar Mantar Road roundabout, with police prepared to modify traffic management measures as circumstances demanded.
