Delhi Traffic Police have implemented traffic restrictions on several major routes in the city to accommodate Durga Puja celebrations, which draw large crowds to community gatherings and pandal sites. The curbs, which came into effect on Friday, October 16, will persist through October 20.
The restrictions apply daily between 4 pm and midnight on key arterial roads near CR Park and Greater Kailash-2, two prominent areas hosting significant festive events. Commuters using these routes during evening and late-night hours are advised to plan alternative pathways to minimise delays.
The Delhi Traffic Police announcement did not specify alternative routes or the exact nature of the restrictions, such as whether they involve complete closures or partial diversions. Motorists are urged to stay updated through official traffic advisories for real-time information on affected stretches.
Durga Puja, one of India's major festivals, sees heightened vehicular movement in Delhi's residential zones, particularly where Bengali communities have established elaborate temporary structures. The temporary traffic management measures are intended to facilitate safe movement of both festive visitors and regular commuters during the peak celebration period.
