Delhi imposes traffic restrictions near Jantar Mantar ahead of planned protest

Traffic restrictions and regulated movement will be enforced in and around Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas on Friday in anticipation of the planned protest, Delhi Traffic Police said. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid affected stretches wherever possible.

The demonstration, organized by the Aam Aadmi Party and student unions, is being called to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protesters are raising concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and allegations of large-scale voter deletion.

According to the traffic advisory, multiple routes will be affected. Traffic heading from Connaught Place towards Patel Chowk will be diverted through alternate routes, while movement from Patel Chowk towards GPO will be regulated or diverted at appropriate points. Tolstoy Marg and Jantar Mantar Road will also experience restrictions, with motorists urged to use alternative routes.

The traffic police have requested citizens to remain patient and cooperate with law enforcement personnel deployed in the area. Regular updates regarding the restoration of normal traffic flow are expected as the day progresses.
