Delhi has rolled out a mobile application enabling residents to book alcoholic beverages in advance and process payments online, marking a shift toward digitizing the state's alcohol retail operations. The DSIIDC-developed platform aims to streamline the purchasing process for consumers across the capital.
Under the new system, customers can reserve their preferred alcohol brands through the app and complete transactions remotely. However, the service operates under specific constraints designed to maintain regulatory compliance and existing liquor distribution protocols.
While the advance booking and online payment features represent a convenience upgrade, the initiative stops short of home delivery services. Customers are required to collect their purchases from designated retail outlets within 48 hours of booking, ensuring personal collection remains mandatory under Delhi's alcohol sales framework.
The app launch reflects efforts by state authorities to modernize retail operations while adhering to existing regulatory restrictions on alcohol distribution. The move is expected to reduce footfall at physical stores during peak hours and provide greater convenience for customers planning their purchases in advance.
