Delhi LG Orders Safety Audit of All Parks After Teen Gangrape
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor has directed immediate safety audits across all city parks and increased police presence following the gangrape of a teenager at a southeast Delhi park. The directive comes after three men were arrested in connection with the attack on a 17-year-old girl at Astha Kunj Park.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has ordered a comprehensive safety audit of all parks in the capital within one week, following the gangrape of a teenage girl at a park in the Kalkaji area. The directive was issued after Sandhu met with senior officials including the Delhi Police Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner, and Delhi Development Authority Vice Chairman.
The safety audit will focus on critical security measures including adequate lighting, surveillance capabilities, regular patrolling protocols, and sanitation standards across all city parks. The Delhi Police has been instructed to strengthen beat patrolling and deploy Pink Police personnel—all-women police units—around park premises to enhance safety for visitors.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when a 17-year-old girl from Faridabad was gangraped by three men at Astha Kunj Park near the Kalkaji temple. All three accused have been apprehended by police and are in custody, officials confirmed. The case has prompted renewed focus on women's safety in public spaces across the city.
