Delhi Metro restricts entry at 11 stations ahead of Jantar Mantar demonstrations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced restricted operations at 11 stations in central Delhi on October 2 to manage passenger flow during demonstrations planned at Jantar Mantar and concurrent Gandhi Jayanti observances across the city. The closures will affect commuter access during peak morning hours as authorities implement crowd management protocols.

The restrictions coincide with official Gandhi Jayanti celebrations scheduled at Rajghat and Vijay Ghat, which will draw significant crowds throughout the morning. Traffic movement across central Delhi will face curbs from 5 am to 11 am as security agencies coordinate with transport authorities to maintain order.

Commuters are advised to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time on October 2. The DMRC has indicated that specific station closures are concentrated in the New Delhi, Chanakyapuri, and central business district areas. Authorities have urged citizens to use public transport judiciously and cooperate with security personnel deployed across affected zones.

The coordinated restrictions represent a precautionary measure to prevent congestion at sensitive locations and ensure smooth passage of official delegations participating in Gandhi Jayanti ceremonies. Normal metro operations are expected to resume by late morning once initial crowd dispersal is completed.
