Delhi-NCR activates Stage II curbs as air quality deteriorates sharply
The Commission for Air Quality Management has directed enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region to implement Stage II restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan as air quality index readings breach the 325 mark.

Authorities across Delhi and the National Capital Region have activated Stage II measures of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) following a significant deterioration in air quality conditions. The Commission for Air Quality Management issued directives to all implementing agencies to enforce both Stage I and Stage II restrictions simultaneously across the NCR.
With the Air Quality Index crossing 325, indicating poor air quality levels, the restrictions are aimed at curbing emissions and improving atmospheric conditions across the region. Stage II measures typically include actions such as increased mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling on roads, stricter monitoring of construction activities, and restrictions on certain diesel vehicles.
The enforcement of dual-stage restrictions reflects mounting concern over air pollution levels in the region as weather patterns continue to impact dispersion of pollutants. The CAQM's decision to implement both Stage I and Stage II simultaneously ensures a comprehensive approach to addressing the air quality crisis affecting millions of residents across Delhi-NCR.
These measures are expected to remain in effect until air quality indicators show sustained improvement. Residents and businesses in the region have been advised to take necessary precautions and comply with the restrictions to help mitigate air pollution levels.
