Delhi Opens Barapullah Phase-III Corridor to Ease East-South Traffic

The Barapullah Phase-III corridor, spanning approximately 9 kilometres, became operational on Monday, offering commuters an alternative route to navigate between East and South Delhi. The project is designed to alleviate traffic bottlenecks on one of the capital's critical transport arteries, which experiences heavy congestion during peak hours.

Beyond conventional vehicular traffic, the corridor incorporates dedicated facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, reflecting a growing emphasis on promoting sustainable and non-motorised transport modes in the city. These provisions aim to encourage commuters to adopt eco-friendly travel options while ensuring their safety on the busy corridor.

The completion of Phase-III represents progress on the larger Barapullah project, which has been a long-standing infrastructure initiative for Delhi.
