Delhi parks with five-year booking history cleared for social events
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has tightened eligibility criteria for parks hosting social and religious gatherings. Only ornamental parks demonstrating at least five years of continuous event bookings will qualify under the revised framework.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has amended its park utilization policy to regulate the hosting of social and religious functions in city green spaces. Under the updated guidelines, ornamental parks must have documented event-booking history spanning a minimum of five consecutive years to be considered eligible venues for community gatherings.
The revision represents a shift toward standardizing park usage across Delhi's municipal jurisdiction. By restricting eligibility to established venues with proven booking patterns, the MCD aims to ensure consistent management and prevent ad-hoc allocation of public recreational spaces for private or community events.
A key component of the amended rules stipulates that no new ornamental parks will be added to the existing event-booking system going forward. This freeze on expansion means the pool of available venues for such gatherings remains fixed at currently registered parks meeting the five-year criterion.
The policy change reflects municipal efforts to balance public access to green spaces with organized event management. Parks designated for events must maintain their primary ornamental and recreational functions while accommodating approved social and religious functions within defined parameters.
