Delhi Police Arrest CJP Leaders Over Jantar Mantar Protest

Delhi Police arrested CJP leaders Sourabh Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Ajinkya Shinde on charges related to an unauthorized entry at Jantar Mantar and a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, police said on Tuesday.

The three activists were arrested on preventive grounds following their attempt to forcibly enter the protest site at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi. The action drew sharp responses from civil society groups who questioned the police's authority to restrict assembly at the designated protest venue.

The arrested leaders are scheduled to appear before court shortly for preliminary proceedings. Preliminary reports indicate the police cited violation of regulations governing public gatherings at the historically significant protest location.

The arrests mark an escalation in tensions between the ruling establishment and opposition voices challenging electoral processes. CJP representatives have stated they were exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest and assembly.
