Delhi Police filed a First Information Report against Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leadership on Tuesday in connection with an unauthorized gathering at the Jantar Mantar protest site, according to official statements.
The FIR names CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, along with additional party members, for alleged trespassing at the historically significant New Delhi landmark. Police accused the group of entering the area without proper authorization, violating regulations governing public assembly at the venue.
The party's chief legal officer, Ratna Singh, contested the police action, claiming the arrests were unjustified and characterizing the legal proceedings as politically motivated. The statement has intensified the dispute between the CJP and law enforcement authorities.
Jantar Mantar has long served as a focal point for protest activity in New Delhi, with regulations governing access to prevent unauthorized gatherings. The latest incident reflects ongoing tensions between protest movements and police enforcement of assembly restrictions in the capital.
