Delhi police arrested Vikrant Tomar, 23, from the Burari area on charges of defrauding multiple female constables through an elaborate matrimonial scam. The accused reportedly targeted women from a single police batch, gaining their trust by promising marriage while extracting substantial sums of money.
According to police records, Tomar maintained a carefully curated social media presence on Instagram, regularly posting images of expensive automobiles and luxury lifestyle content to establish his credibility as a wealthy businessman. The deceptive online persona proved effective in convincing the victims of his financial standing and intentions.
Investigators revealed that Tomar employed a systematic approach, targeting female constables from the same police recruitment batch, possibly to exploit existing professional networks and familiarity. The accused would build relationships with the victims before requesting financial assistance under various pretexts, eventually leading to significant monetary losses.
The arrest comes as Delhi police intensify crackdowns on matrimonial fraud cases targeting members of the police force. Authorities are investigating whether additional victims exist and if other individuals were involved in the scheme. Investigators have appealed to other potential victims to come forward and file formal complaints.
