Delhi police have uncovered an unusual cybercrime operation where fraudsters were running a call centre from a moving sport utility vehicle (SUV) to avoid law enforcement detection. The perpetrators converted the vehicle into a mobile office, constantly changing locations to stay ahead of authorities.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the scheme. During searches, police recovered seven mobile phones, fifteen bank and metro cards, cheque books, passbooks, and multiple identity documents from the accused. The recovered materials suggest a sophisticated operation targeting unsuspecting victims across the region.
The mobile-based modus operandi represents an emerging challenge for cybercrime investigators in India's capital. By operating from a vehicle rather than a fixed location, the fraudsters sought to minimize their digital footprint and complicate tracking efforts by authorities. The constant relocation strategy made the network difficult to locate until police successfully intercepted the operation.
The arrest marks another significant intervention by Delhi police against organised cybercrime networks. Authorities have indicated that investigations into the network's scope and number of victims are ongoing, with additional charges likely to follow as police examine the recovered materials and communication records.
