Delhi Police has moved to defend its handling of detentions on October 10, submitting to the Supreme Court that the preventive measures were essential to protect the peace and tranquility of vital and sensitive areas in New Delhi. In its response to the court, the police force addressed concerns about the conditions faced by those held during the operation. According to the police submission, detainees were provided with hot, fresh meals throughout their detention period, contradicting any allegations of poor treatment or inadequate provisions. The police clarified that among the measures taken, only cellular internet services were suspended as part of the preventive protocol, while other facilities and amenities remained available to those detained. The clarification comes as the Supreme Court examines the circumstances surrounding the October 10 detentions and the justification for the measures implemented by law enforcement authorities during the operation in the national capital.
