Delhi Police detain Kejriwal during protest march to Jantar Mantar

Delhi Police detained Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday as the three-time Chief Minister led a march towards Jantar Mantar in the capital. The former CM was part of a protest demanding the resignation of a government official, according to party sources.

The detention drew sharp criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party, which questioned the police action. Senior party leader Atishi Marlena alleged the move was aimed at suppressing dissent, asking whether authorities would continue to detain protesters to protect the official in question.

The incident marks another flashpoint between the Delhi government and the city police, which operate under the Union Home Ministry. Police cited preventive measures as the reason for the detention, preventing the protest march from reaching its intended destination.

Kejriwal's detention comes amid ongoing political tensions in Delhi. The AAP has previously voiced concerns over police autonomy and alleged misuse of law enforcement agencies for political purposes. The party did not immediately clarify whether the former CM was charged with any specific offense or when he would be released.
