Delhi Police detained two prominent protest leaders on Friday as they made their way to participate in the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' demonstration scheduled for the evening at Connaught Place in central Delhi. Abhijeet Dipke, heading the Cockroach Janta Party, was apprehended at his residence in Jhandewalan, while All India Students Association chief Neha Bora was detained at Mandi House. Both locations are situated in Central Delhi's administrative boundaries.
The detention of the two activists occurred amid significant police presence, with crowds and camera crews gathering as security personnel carried out the action. Earlier on Friday, more than 20 Delhi Police personnel visited Dipke's home and served him an official notice directing him to abstain from any activities that could infringe upon the rights of citizens, traders, commuters, patients and other residents.
The police action reflects the heightened security posture adopted by authorities in the national capital ahead of Friday's planned demonstration. The preventive measures underscore official concerns regarding public order during the scheduled protest event at one of Delhi's prominent commercial districts.
