Delhi Police detain protesters as CJP demonstrations enter second day

Police moved to disperse a large group of protesters marching toward Jantar Mantar from Connaught Place's Inner Circle and Rajiv Chowk on Sunday morning. The detentions came as the CJP-led agitation entered its second consecutive day, with demonstrators chanting slogans calling for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's removal from office.

Security forces intensified their presence across the area to prevent protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar, a major demonstration site in central Delhi. Video footage from the scene showed police personnel forcibly removing protesters, with several demonstrators reportedly resisting as they were led toward police vehicles. The CJP had announced plans to continue mobilizing support, scheduling another demonstration at the protest site for 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Multiple detainees alleged that police personnel used excessive force during the arrests. The Students' Federation of India was among the groups participating in the demonstrations. Authorities had similarly restricted protests at the venue on Saturday, underscoring government efforts to contain the ongoing demonstrations in the capital.
