Delhi Police have arrested five suspects in connection with an elaborate fake recruitment scheme that has been defrauding job seekers across the city. The racket came to authorities' attention on September 1, when police received information about a suspected fraudulent call centre operating in the Sangam Vihar-Jharoda Majra area.
The operation was running as a fake recruitment agency, luring candidates with promises of employment opportunities and collecting fees under various pretexts. Investigators discovered that the syndicate employed deceptive tactics to build credibility with applicants, often impersonating representatives of legitimate companies to extract money and personal information.
According to police officials, the gang targeted job seekers across multiple sectors, exploiting their desperation during the employment search process. The investigation revealed a systematic approach to identifying and contacting potential victims through online platforms and job portals.
The suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are currently in police custody. Authorities have recovered mobile phones, computers, and financial records from the premises, which are being examined for evidence of additional victims. Delhi Police have urged residents to verify job offers independently through official company channels and to report any suspected recruitment fraud to local authorities immediately.
