The Delhi Police registered three separate FIRs at Connaught Place and Mandi House police stations in relation to the tricolor march, invoking Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged disobedience of a lawful order. The charges relate to accusations that marchers defied prohibitory orders issued by authorities ahead of the event.
Activists Abhijeet Dipke and Neha Bora, who were detained in connection with the march, have since been released. The circumstances surrounding their detention and release remain unclear, though both have been associated with organizing the event.
The Tiranga march, led by the Chief Justice of India, drew considerable public participation and attention from law enforcement agencies. The filing of FIRs represents a formal criminal investigation into the conduct of participants and organizers who may have contravened government restrictions.
Section 223 of the BNS pertains to disobedience of orders duly promulgated by a public servant. The FIRs come amid ongoing scrutiny regarding the balance between public assemblies and restrictions imposed by municipal and police authorities in the national capital.
