Delhi Police on High Alert as Opposition Parties Plan Jantar Mantar Protest

Delhi Police have placed thousands of personnel on alert across the capital's high-security zones in anticipation of protests scheduled for Jantar Mantar today. The Aam Admi Party, Left parties, and Youth Congress, among other organizations, have announced demonstrations at the iconic protest venue in central Delhi.

In response to the planned gathering, police have deployed security forces across sensitive areas in New Delhi, with additional checkpoints established at the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana borders. The heightened security posture reflects standard precautions taken by authorities when large-scale public demonstrations are announced in the nation's capital.

New Delhi district police have implemented Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, a provision that prohibits unauthorized assemblies, processions, protests, and sit-ins involving five or more persons without prior written permission. The section remains in effect across the district, requiring organizers to obtain official clearance before conducting demonstrations. Police officials said the measure is aimed at maintaining public order and regulating crowd management in sensitive areas.
