Delhi Police have registered a case and pledged full cooperation with Tripura Police in investigating a racist video allegedly posted by a Delhi influencer against a teenager from Tripura. Delhi Police Director General GS Rao confirmed that the force would extend assistance to their Tripura counterparts throughout the investigation process.
The case underscores the increasing problem of online harassment and racist content directed at individuals from India's northeastern states. Such incidents have prompted law enforcement agencies to intensify scrutiny of social media platforms and their users' conduct.
Both Delhi and Tripura Police are coordinating investigative efforts to identify the influencer's identity and establish the circumstances surrounding the video's creation and distribution. Authorities are examining whether the content violates provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act relating to hate speech and cybercrime.
The incident reflects a broader pattern of digital abuse targeting people from northeastern India, which has emerged as a significant challenge for law enforcement and social media platforms seeking to curb offensive and discriminatory content online.
