The Union Home Secretary has directed police commissioners and chief secretaries nationwide to coordinate with Delhi Police and share relevant intelligence ahead of an anticipated protest in the capital, officials said on Monday.
The directive follows the denial of permission for the planned demonstration. In his communication, Home Secretary Govind Mohan cautioned that the outfit organising the protest and its supporters may attempt unauthorised entry into Delhi despite the administrative decision to reject their application.
The move reflects concerns over potential law and order challenges and underscores the Centre's emphasis on inter-state coordination to maintain public order. Police forces across states have been asked to remain vigilant and provide real-time information to Delhi Police regarding any suspicious movements or attempts to circumvent the ban.
The decision to deny permission for the protest was made following standard procedures, with officials citing potential security and public interest concerns. Delhi Police has been tasked with ensuring compliance and maintaining peace in the national capital during the sensitive period.
