Delhi Police tightens security as CJP seeks permit for Jantar Mantar march

Delhi Police have heightened security arrangements at key locations across the capital as activist Saurav Das, co-convener of the Coordinated People's Movement (CJP), prepares to file an intimation letter seeking permission for a public march at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. Das announced the plan on social media, stating the letter would be submitted at 10 am.

Barricades have been erected at strategic points, and personnel have been equipped with body cameras as part of enhanced security protocols. The move reflects the police's preparedness to manage potential crowd gathering and ensure public order during the submission and any subsequent proceedings.

The intimation letter, a standard procedure under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for advance notice of public gatherings, is expected to outline the proposed march's scope, duration, and anticipated participants. Delhi Police will review the submission and determine whether to grant permission or impose conditions on the proposed assembly.

The heightened security measures underscore the capital's ongoing focus on maintaining law and order during public demonstrations and civic engagements, balancing citizens' rights to peaceful assembly with administrative oversight.
