Delhi Police Transfer Jantar Mantar Protest Case to Crime Branch

The Delhi Police have shifted investigative authority of the case involving Congress for Democratic Values (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to the Crime Branch's Interstate Cell, marking an escalation in the handling of the October 13 incident.

Two separate First Information Reports were registered in connection with the Jantar Mantar demonstration. The combined cases invoke a total of eight criminal sections against the accused, according to police records.

Both Das and Ranka have had their judicial custody extended as the investigation progresses. The transfer to the specialized Interstate Cell suggests the matter may involve cross-border or multi-jurisdictional elements requiring enhanced investigative resources.

The Crime Branch's Interstate Cell typically handles cases with implications beyond Delhi's boundaries or involving coordination across state lines. The specific nature of the charges and evidence gathered during the initial investigation phases remain undisclosed.
