Officials in the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer's office have issued instructions to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to verify a minimum of 10 electors per day, aiming to expedite the resolution of electoral roll discrepancies across the national capital.
The move reflects concerns over the initially sluggish pace at which verification applications were being processed. By setting a daily quota, the electoral authorities hope to significantly increase the throughput of verification cases and reduce the backlog of pending requests.
The Electoral Commission's mandate requires that the electoral roll be kept current and accurate. Voters frequently request corrections for various reasons, including address changes, name corrections, or enrollment updates. The verification process involves Booth Level Officers visiting constituencies to validate these requests.
With the new directive in place, the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer's office aims to streamline operations and ensure timely redressal of voter requests. The daily target of 10 verifications per BLO is expected to substantially improve the overall processing efficiency across Delhi's electoral divisions.
