Delhi pollution board orders daily action reports from seven agencies

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued fresh directives requiring seven agencies to file daily pollution action reports by 5 pm, according to a communication dated October 31. The directive represents an escalation in the regulatory body's approach to monitoring and implementing air quality measures across the capital.

In its letter to the agencies, the DPCC has instructed them to "ramp up deployment of ground level officers to effectively enforce implementation of aforesaid directions in letter and spirit." The order underscores the committee's determination to ensure that existing pollution control measures are not merely adopted on paper but actively executed in the field.

The requirement for daily reporting is intended to create a mechanism for real-time oversight and accountability. By mandating end-of-day submissions, the DPCC seeks to track compliance patterns and identify gaps in enforcement efforts across the capital's various sectors and jurisdictions.

The move comes as Delhi continues to grapple with deteriorating air quality during the winter months, when meteorological conditions and increased pollution sources converge to create hazardous conditions. Enhanced coordination and regular monitoring through the new reporting system are expected to provide the DPCC with better visibility into implementation challenges and enforcement effectiveness.
