Delhi protest site loses official status as activism spreads nationwide

New Delhi's Jantar Mantar, which has hosted continuous youth-led protests since June, is no longer recognized as an official protest site, marking a significant shift in the regulatory landscape for demonstrations in the capital.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led movement founded by activist Abhijeet Dipke, has been instrumental in organizing activities at the landmark location. The group's demonstrations have drawn attention to various social and political concerns affecting young Indians.

Responding to the loss of designated status, movement leaders vowed to expand their activism beyond the traditional protest venue. According to representatives, the restrictions will not halt demonstrations but rather accelerate efforts to mobilize support across the country.

"The entire nation will become Jantar Mantar," activists stated, indicating plans to shift focus toward decentralized protests and grassroots mobilization in multiple states. The statement underscores the movement's determination to maintain momentum despite administrative constraints.

The development reflects ongoing tensions between protest movements and municipal authorities regarding the use of public spaces for demonstrations in India's capital region.
