Delhi protests demand CEC removal, electoral roll revision suspension

Activists mobilised under the 'People Against SIR' banner plan to stage demonstrations across Delhi neighbourhoods in a coordinated campaign they have dubbed 'Har gali mein Jantar Mantar', seeking to amplify their message beyond the traditional protest venue of Jantar Mantar.

The march comes amid growing concerns over the electoral roll revision process. Organisers contend that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) undertaken by election authorities has raised questions about the integrity of voter registration procedures and demand its immediate discontinuation.

A key demand centres on the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom protesters hold responsible for the implementation of policies they view as undermining democratic processes. The campaign seeks to mount pressure through widespread grassroots mobilisation across the capital's residential areas.

Civil society figures including Abhijeet Dipke and Neha Bora are among those invited to lead or participate in today's demonstrations, lending visibility to the movement. The organisers are framing their action as a broader bid to 'restore democracy' through heightened public engagement on electoral matters.
