Delhi's air quality showed marked improvement on Saturday, with the Air Quality Index reaching 185 and moving from the 'poor' to 'moderate' category. The improvement marks a significant shift for the capital, which has grappled with hazardous air quality levels in recent weeks.
The India Meteorological Department attributed the improvement to meteorological factors, forecasting partly cloudy conditions across the National Capital Region in the near term. Weather experts noted that wind patterns and atmospheric conditions have contributed to the dispersal of pollutants that had accumulated in the region.
Temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days, according to the IMD forecast. However, residents across southern parts of India should prepare for unsettled weather, as heavy rain is anticipated in several regions over the forecast period.
The improvement in Delhi's air quality, while welcome, underscores the city's ongoing battle with seasonal air pollution. Environmental officials continue to monitor air quality levels closely as meteorological conditions evolve heading into the coming weeks.
