Delhi's first Yamuna river cruise to launch after successful trial operations

Chief Minister Gupta, alongside Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra and senior officials, conducted an inspection voyage on the newly developed cruise vessel. The trial operation signals the imminent commencement of regular passenger services on the historic waterway.

The cruise service will operate along a 4-5 kilometre stretch of the Yamuna between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, with each voyage lasting approximately 40 minutes. The vessel is designed to accommodate a maximum of 30 passengers per trip, ensuring a controlled passenger experience during operations.

Tickets for the cruise service will be sold exclusively through the Delhi Tourism website, providing a streamlined booking system for both residents and visiting tourists. The service aims to offer a distinctive tourism experience centred on the Yamuna's riverfront landscape.

The project forms part of a broader initiative to develop river-based tourism infrastructure along the Yamuna. The Inland Waterways Authority of India and the Delhi government formalized their partnership in March 2025 to establish cruise tourism along the upstream stretch of the river beyond the Wazirabad barrage, marking a significant expansion of the capital's tourism offerings.
