Delhi Schools Set For Multiple Closures During October 2026

Delhi schools will observe several scheduled holidays during October 2026, according to the official calendar released by the Delhi Directorate of Education. The holiday list distinguishes between gazetted holidays, which are public holidays declared by the government, and restricted holidays that apply specifically to educational institutions.

The distinction between holiday categories is important for school administrators and parents planning academic calendars and family schedules. Gazetted holidays typically result in wider closures across both government and private institutions, while restricted holidays may apply selectively depending on individual school policies and community observances.

Schools across Delhi have been directed to ensure compliance with the holiday schedule while maintaining regular academic operations on designated working days. Parents and students are advised to consult their respective school administrations for specific closure dates and any alternative arrangements that may be implemented during these periods.

The October 2026 holiday calendar is part of the Delhi education department's annual planning framework, which aims to balance academic requirements with cultural, religious, and national observances recognized across the National Capital Region.
