Delhi set for another hot day as South India braces for downpours
Heavy rainfall is expected to lash parts of South India on Monday, with coastal and interior regions particularly vulnerable. The national capital, meanwhile, will continue to experience hot and uncomfortable conditions.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated pockets across coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and the union territory of Mahe on Monday, according to weather forecasts. The precipitation is also expected to affect south interior Karnataka alongside Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, bringing much-needed relief to parched southern regions.
The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for these areas as monsoon systems continue to influence weather patterns across the peninsula. Residents in vulnerable zones have been advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging and flash flooding.
In contrast, the northern plains face continued heat stress with Delhi expected to remain uncomfortably warm throughout the day. The divergent weather patterns reflect the complex interaction of multiple weather systems across the Indian subcontinent, creating a stark contrast between the sweltering north and the moisture-laden south.
Weather officials recommend that residents in rain-affected areas monitor official updates, while those in heat-prone regions are urged to take necessary precautions against prolonged heat exposure. The situation is expected to evolve as the day progresses, with conditions potentially shifting in subsequent forecast cycles.
