Police in Delhi's central district have arrested a shopkeeper in connection with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in Sadar Bazar. The accused, identified as 56-year-old Maksood, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by the victim's family.
According to the police account, the girl had left her home to purchase stationery items on September 16 when the shopkeeper allegedly lured her into his shop under false pretenses. Investigators alleged that he then restrained the minor and subjected her to sexual assault.
The case has been registered at the local police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to sexual offences against minors. Police officials stated that the accused has been remanded in custody for further interrogation and that the investigation is ongoing.
