Delhi tightens security ahead of major protest demonstration

Delhi has been placed under heightened security as officials prepare for a large-scale protest expected in the coming days. Over 20,000 security personnel have been deployed across the capital, with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed at key entry points to the city.

Transport services have been significantly disrupted as part of the security operations. Multiple long-distance trains have been cancelled, while several metro stations in sensitive areas have been shut down to control movement and prevent large gatherings. The restrictions are expected to remain in place until after the planned demonstration concludes.

Communication services have also been curtailed in select areas of the capital. Internet services have been suspended in parts of Delhi as a precautionary measure to prevent coordination of crowds. Additionally, authorities have issued advisories recommending that markets and commercial establishments in certain zones remain closed during the protest period.

The comprehensive security lockdown reflects concerns about the scale and scope of the anticipated demonstration. Officials have urged residents to plan their movements accordingly and cooperate with law enforcement personnel deployed across the city.
