Delhi tightens security as protests target election chief

Delhi Police have intensified security arrangements in the national capital as two separate marches prepare to take place from India Gate to Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. The demonstrations are centred on demands relating to the functioning of the Chief Election Commissioner's office, according to organisers.

The Citizens' March, scheduled to commence at 3 pm, will address multiple grievances including concerns about women's safety and institutional accountability. The All India Students' Association announced the march through social media platforms, mobilising participants across the city.

Security personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations throughout central Delhi, including near major protest sites and traffic corridors. The heightened measures aim to manage crowd flow and maintain public order during the demonstrations.

Authorities have coordinated with protest organisers regarding the planned route and duration of the marches. Traffic restrictions are expected in areas surrounding the march routes, and commuters have been advised to plan alternate travel arrangements.
