The National Capital has implemented stricter vehicle entry restrictions under its revised Graded Response Action Plan, permitting only compliant automobiles to enter the city limits. The new measures aim to combat rising air pollution during the winter months.

Delhi's environmental authorities have rolled out updated vehicle entry guidelines effective November 1, restricting passage to automobiles meeting stringent emission standards. The revised Graded Response Action Plan permits entry of BS-VI petrol and diesel vehicles, electric vehicles, and compressed natural gas-powered cars, provided owners carry valid documentation.
Vehicles that do not conform to these emission norms face entry bans into the national capital. The restrictions represent a significant tightening of pollution control measures as Delhi enters the winter season, when meteorological conditions typically trap pollutants near ground level, degrading air quality.
Government-exempted vehicles, including those performing essential services, may continue operations subject to valid authorization documentation. Authorities have urged vehicle owners to verify their automobiles' emission classification before attempting entry into Delhi, as non-compliant vehicles will be intercepted at city borders.
The move aligns with India's broader push toward cleaner transportation standards. Delhi frequently grapples with hazardous air quality during winter months, prompting the implementation of such emergency protocols to protect public health.
