Delhi To Deploy All-Women Patrol Units In College And Metro Areas

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor has ordered the creation of specialized women's patrol units to be stationed at colleges, metro stations and other key locations across the capital. The initiative takes inspiration from Goa's 'Pink Force' programme, which has gained recognition for its effectiveness in addressing women's safety concerns in public spaces.
The new patrol units are expected to focus on crime prevention, community engagement and rapid response to incidents in areas with high footfall. Stations hosting the dedicated women's forces will benefit from enhanced visibility and accessibility for female commuters and students seeking assistance.
Beyond the patrol initiative, the Delhi Police will implement a digital tracking system for Jan Sunwai—the public grievance redressal mechanism. Under the new framework, all complaints lodged through Jan Sunwai will be formally acknowledged and tracked online, improving transparency and accountability in the complaint resolution process.
The dual approach reflects efforts to strengthen public safety infrastructure while modernizing civilian oversight mechanisms. Officials aim to improve response times to complaints and create documented records accessible to complainants through the online tracking system.
