Delhi to inspect Bharat Mandapam-airport corridor for BRICS Summit

The Delhi government has scheduled an inspection of the Bharat Mandapam-to-airport route to ensure readiness for the upcoming BRICS Summit, according to state officials. The review, to be chaired by the Delhi chief secretary, will be conducted on Saturday and will examine road quality, potholes, footpaths, drainage systems, waterlogging issues, cleanliness standards and BRICS branding across the corridor.

Multiple agencies have been mobilised for the inspection exercise, including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Police, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The coordination reflects the scale of preparation required for the high-profile international summit.

The additional chief secretary overseeing infrastructure and flood management has been tasked with reviewing drainage infrastructure and waterlogging-prone areas along the route, while formulating contingency dewatering measures. The NDMC chairperson will focus on assessing civic conditions in areas falling under the municipal council's jurisdiction.

The inspection underscores Delhi's efforts to present a polished appearance along key routes used by international delegates attending the BRICS Summit, with particular attention to infrastructure quality and environmental management.
