Delhi to reverify over 47 lakh voters excluded from draft electoral roll
Booth-level officers in Delhi will undertake a comprehensive reverification process for more than 47 lakh electors who were excluded during the preparation of the draft electoral roll. The deletions represent 32.8 per cent of the voter base, the second-lowest among India's six major metropolitan centres.

The Election Commission has tasked booth-level officers (BLOs) across Delhi with conducting detailed reverification of voters who were excluded from the draft roll during the latest revision process. The exercise aims to ensure eligible citizens are not inadvertently disenfranchised and to maintain the integrity of the electoral register.
Delhi's deletion rate of 32.8 per cent places it second among the six metro cities tracked in the current exercise—Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. While this proportion is relatively lower compared to some peer metros, the absolute number of affected voters underscores the scale of the reverification challenge facing poll officials.
The reverification process represents a critical step in the electoral roll management cycle, allowing citizens to contest their exclusion through established objection procedures. BLOs will examine cases where voters may have been removed due to data inconsistencies, migration records, or other administrative factors.
Election officials have emphasised that the reverification drive aims to balance electoral accuracy with inclusive representation. The outcome of this exercise will refine Delhi's voter database ahead of forthcoming electoral activities, ensuring that all eligible citizens have the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
