Delhi traders seek postponement of Gandhi's November 1 rally

The Delhi Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi requesting the postponement of a rally scheduled for November 1 at Ramlila Grounds in the national capital. The traders' body has proposed deferring the event until after Bhai Dooj on November 10, a key festival period for commercial activity.

According to the CTI's representation, the rally would significantly disrupt business operations in the area, with potential losses estimated at around ₹10,000 crore. The chamber cited the timing as particularly problematic, falling during a critical period for retail and wholesale trade that precedes major festival shopping seasons.

The letter underscores concerns from Delhi's business community about public gatherings during economically sensitive periods. Ramlila Grounds, located in central Delhi, is a significant venue for political events and is surrounded by commercial establishments that depend on regular foot traffic and business continuity.

The request highlights the recurring tension between political activities and commercial interests in major urban centers, particularly during festive seasons when trade volumes peak. No official response from the Congress party or Gandhi's office has been announced regarding the traders' appeal.
