Delhi traffic police flag safety concerns on Barapullah Phase-III corridor

Delhi traffic police have escalated concerns about the Barapullah Phase-III corridor, submitting formal letters to the Public Works Department requesting critical design changes before the project's completion. The communications highlight multiple safety deficiencies that authorities say pose risks to commuters and residents in the densely populated Siddharth Extension area.

Among the primary issues flagged by traffic officials is unsafe road geometry that has contributed to traffic incidents on the stretch. The letters also point to a mismatch between lane capacity and actual traffic demand, creating congestion and forcing vehicles into dangerous maneuvers during peak hours.

A particularly troubling concern involves residents of Siddharth Extension driving on the wrong side of designated lanes, a pattern police attribute partly to the corridor's geometric design. Officials contend that the current layout inadvertently encourages such violations, creating additional hazards for properly-directed traffic.

The traffic police correspondence represents an attempt to address these structural deficiencies before the corridor becomes fully operational. The PWD has not yet publicly responded to the specific modification requests, though coordination between the agencies is expected to determine feasible design corrections within project parameters.
