Delhi traffic to be hit as INDIA bloc protests electoral survey row

Delhi Traffic Police have alerted commuters to expect traffic restrictions near the Old St Stephen's College Building in Kashmere Gate, where the INDIA bloc's Delhi representatives will stage a protest outside the Chief Electoral Officer's office. The demonstration, scheduled from noon to 3:30 pm, is being held to oppose the Special Inspection Report (SIR) exercise currently underway in the capital.

Authorities have indicated that traffic may be diverted or regulated on Boulevard Road, Ring Road, S P Marg and N S Marg during the three-and-a-half hour protest period. Lothian Road is expected to remain closed throughout the demonstration, the advisory stated.

Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys with additional travel time and to avoid the affected corridors where possible. Buses and other vehicles will be rerouted through alternative routes including Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road), Shanti Van Chowk, Hanuman Mandir, Chhata Rail, Mori Gate Gole Chakkar and Pul Dufferin, depending on prevailing traffic conditions.

The Delhi Traffic Police urged residents and regular commuters to check real-time traffic updates and consider using public transportation alternatives during the protest period to minimise disruption to their travel plans.
