The Delhi Metro Railway Corporation and Northern Railways have suspended operations at 57 metro stations across the capital in anticipation of the Cockroach Janata Party demonstration scheduled for Saturday. Additionally, 75 train services have been cancelled as authorities implement heightened security protocols throughout the city.
Transport officials have also implemented diversions on multiple routes to manage traffic flow and maintain security perimeters around sensitive areas. The coordinated closure reflects the scale of security preparations being undertaken ahead of the planned protest.
The disruptions mark a significant impact on commuter services, with morning and evening peak hours likely to experience considerable congestion as citizens navigate alternative transportation routes. Metro officials urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and utilize remaining operational stations.
The security measures represent a standard precautionary approach adopted by city authorities when large-scale public demonstrations are anticipated. Officials have not disclosed specific threat assessments but emphasized their commitment to maintaining public order while protecting citizens' right to peaceful assembly.
