Delhi university and CyberPeace launch student initiative to combat online threats

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) and CyberPeace Foundation have jointly launched the CyberPeace Keepers and First Responders initiative, a targeted training programme designed to address emerging digital threats. The scheme will focus on building student capacity to research and respond to an expanding array of cyber-enabled harms.

The programme's curriculum spans multiple categories of online abuse and deception. Participants will receive training in identifying and combating scams, manipulated media or deepfakes, artificial intelligence-enabled deception, misinformation campaigns, impersonation and various forms of online harassment. The multi-faceted approach reflects the increasingly sophisticated nature of threats encountered by internet users across the region.

By developing a network of trained student responders, the initiative aims to create a grassroots safeguarding infrastructure. The programme seeks to transform students into active agents in tackling digital threats within their communities, leveraging their technical knowledge and understanding of online ecosystems. The partnership underscores growing institutional recognition of the need for specialized training to counter cyber-enabled harms at the ground level.
