Law enforcement authorities have arrested a delivery agent on charges of theft after recovering a substantial cache of stolen parcels from his possession. The recovered items, valued at Rs 4,60,512, comprised a diverse range of goods that were meant for delivery to customers across the region.
The seized property included 13 mobile phones, multiple Bluetooth devices, a smartwatch, wristwatches, perfumes, personal care products, clothing items and various electronic accessories. Investigators said the accused had systematically diverted parcels from his delivery rounds, keeping high-value items and withholding them from rightful recipients.
The arrest came after multiple complaints from customers regarding non-delivery of their ordered items. Police initiated an investigation that led them to the delivery agent, who was found to have accumulated the stolen goods over an extended period. Authorities have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident has raised concerns about security measures in the parcel delivery industry. Delivery and logistics companies typically employ verification systems to track parcels, though enforcement remains challenging given the high volume of daily shipments handled across the country.
