PROSPERIDAD — Dengue infections in Agusan del Sur have surged to 2,185 confirmed cases, with health authorities reporting 167 new cases within a single day, according to the latest surveillance data released Monday. The death toll has climbed to 15, with another fatality recorded in the latest reporting period.

The escalating figures underscore the severity of the outbreak declared by provincial health officials only four days prior. The Agusan del Sur Provincial Health Office has been tracking the spread closely as the disease continues to accelerate across multiple municipalities in the province.

Dengue transmission typically peaks during the rainy season when mosquito breeding grounds become more prevalent. Health authorities have urged residents to take precautionary measures, including eliminating standing water around homes and using mosquito repellent to reduce transmission risk.

Meanwhile, the provincial health office is coordinating with local government units to intensify response efforts, including community awareness campaigns and enhanced case identification. Medical facilities across the province have been placed on alert to manage the surge in patient admissions.
