Dengue situation under control in Tamil Nadu state, officials assert
Tamil Nadu's Health Secretary has expressed confidence that dengue fever is being effectively managed across the state, with authorities ramping up preventive measures in affected districts. State health officials have declared the dengue situation under control despite fresh cases being reported across Tamil Nadu. The Health Secretary made the statement in Madurai, emphasizing that preventive measures are being intensified in districts experiencing higher case loads.
Madurai district accounted for 288 dengue cases as of September 23, according to official data. The caseload was distributed across Corporation limits with 105 cases, municipalities with 11 cases, panchayats with nine cases, and town panchayats with 163 cases. The spread across multiple administrative areas underscores the need for coordinated response efforts.
Field staff have been deployed for fogging operations in affected areas, with plans to expand these measures into rural pockets where dengue transmission risks remain. The intensification of vector control activities aims to break the disease transmission cycle and prevent further spread.
Health authorities are maintaining heightened surveillance in districts reporting significant case numbers, relying on a combination of chemical interventions and community-level preventive practices to manage the outbreak.
